Behavior - Nocturnal forager of mice and small birds, primarily hunting by sound.

Fluffy plumage makes its flight almost soundless, effective in surprising its prey.

Nests are built in various sites, including tree hollows, barn rafters, burrows, or cliff holes.

They nest at al times of the year and, it is believed, mate for life.
