TA冒險等級3：The Paladin's Curse

The death knight slowly raised its vicious-looking maul and took a step forward. Its eyes, somehow still intact, seemed to be searching Luchen 5th's face, uncertainly.

 

Luchen 5th made a Wisdom check with a difficulty of 15 . . . and rolled 16

 

Luchen 5th put it all together -- the trinkets from old wars, the decorated armor -- it was once a captain and it was still trying to fight a long-lost war. Realizing that no good would come of fighting, Luchen 5th played along and began discussing strategy with the knight. Luchen 5th led the death knight back to town, and High Priest Fekis freed the soldier's soul so that he could rest in peace. Its antique armor made for a nice find as well.

 

Luchen 5th received 170 XP and 23 gold.

 

Luchen 5th received a suit of Bonegrim Armor.

Luchen 5th finally reached the study of whoever was leading this rabble. The room was filled with old books and artifacts from wars long lost. What might have once been an expensive table was covered with maps of the surrounding areas with battle lines and troop orders scrawled all over them.

 

Luchen 5th made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 28 . . . and rolled 32

 

A creaking floorboard warned Luchen 5th of the danger behind him. A last-minute sidestep spared Luchen 5th from a severe clubbing on the head. When he turned around, he saw a gruesome figure clad intricately in decorated plate. It was the rotting corpse of an undead paladin!

 

Luchen 5th received 29 XP.

Luchen 5th saw a suspicious man slip into a room off the castle's main hall. When Luchen 5th went to investigate, the room was empty except for a chambermaid. Something was amiss.

 

Luchen 5th made a Wisdom check with a difficulty of 13 . . . and rolled 14

 

That's no chambermaid! Luchen 5th saw through the doppelganger's disguise, restrained the shapeshifter, and brought it to the castle guards. The guards rewarded Luchen 5th for sniffing out the sneak.

 

Luchen 5th received 88 XP and 47 gold.

Luchen 5th walked up a spiral staircase that seemed to go forever. He opened a hatch at its top and found himself in a bell tower. The sound of the hatch slamming shut behind Luchen 5th woke up the two monstrous bats nesting there, and they didn't seem happy.

 

Luchen 5th made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 27 . . . and rolled 39

 

Luchen 5th ducked the flyby attack of the first bat. As the second bat dove at him, he dove under the bell. The bat crashed into bell and fell to the ground where Luchen 5th easily finished it off. The first bat shallowed its dive and swooped under the bell to get at Luchen 5th. Luckily it careened off his armor and into the inside of the bell. Luchen 5th quickly rolled out of the bell and struck it several times with his dagger, stunning the bat still trapped inside. He easily finished off the stunned creature and then found some guano covered valuables before making his way back down the stairs.

 

Luchen 5th received 95 XP and 5 gold.

 

Luchen 5th received a Sealskin Cape.

Luchen 5th found himself face to face with a brick wall at the end of a corridor. There was a small gap at the top that he thought he might be able to squeeze through.

 

Luchen 5th made an Intelligence check with a difficulty of 11 . . . and rolled 7

 

Luchen 5th jammed an arm into a small gap at the top of the wall and thrashed around a bit but was unable to pull himself up through it. Unfortunately there was no way he was going to get up there, so he turned back to find another path.

 

Luchen 5th took 2 damage.

 

Luchen 5th received 36 XP.

Luchen 5th turned a corner to find a clay scout guarding an oak door.

 

Luchen 5th made a Strength check with a difficulty of 12 . . . and rolled 18

 

After a short battle, Luchen 5th stabbed the homunculus to pieces with his Rusty Dagger. Luchen 5th pushed the door open and ventured further toward dangers unknown.

 

Luchen 5th took 4 damage.

 

Luchen 5th received 84 XP and 38 gold.

Suddenly, Luchen 5th heard something careening down the side of the mountain straight for him.

 

Luchen 5th made a Dexterity check with a difficulty of 14 . . . and rolled 17

 

Ducking, Luchen 5th narrowly avoided the warlock that careened past him, racing down the path. Shrugging, Luchen 5th picked up some of the warlock's dropped items and went along on his way, being sure to watch his footing.

 

Luchen 5th received 83 XP and 8 gold.

 

Luchen 5th received a pair of Bracers of Mental Might.

A horrible clacking sound caused Luchen 5th to swing around to see a giant beetle! He wasn't sure what an angry beetle looked like, but that was probably it.

 

Luchen 5th made an Armor Class check with a difficulty of 26 . . . and rolled 27

 

Luchen 5th's defenses held against the enormous vermin's pincers, and he managed to best it in the end. There was green goo everywhere, and Luchen 5th scooped it up in handfuls. It wasn't pretty, but beetle guts would sell at the apothecary back in town.

 

Luchen 5th took 2 damage.

 

Luchen 5th received 52 XP and 31 gold.

Seeing a large gap ahead, Luchen 5th put on a big burst of speed.

 

Luchen 5th made a Strength check with a difficulty of 9 . . . and rolled 14

 

He made a spectacular leap across the gap and just barely made it to the other side, landing on his heels. After a precarious few seconds of teetering and windmilling arms, Luchen 5th was safely on the far side.

 

Luchen 5th received 65 XP.

A huge troll patrolled clumsily on the path ahead, oblivious to Luchen 5th's presence.

 

Luchen 5th made an Intelligence check with a difficulty of 14 . . . and rolled 26

 

Feeling particularly clever, Luchen 5th climbed up on the rocks ahead and used a branch to dislodge a particularly large stone . . . which tumbled down and crushed the troll! Knowing he didn't have much time before it would regenerate, Luchen 5th quickly looted it and ran on ahead.

 

Luchen 5th received 74 XP.
