What is a black box recorder makeof?

Let's start by dispelling onemyth. Flight data recorder are not black, but coloured bright orange so thatthey can be found easily after an aviation accident. Aircraft carry two blackboxes. The flight data recorder continuously logs details like the plane'sspeed, altitude, time of day and engine parameters. The other unit records thepilot's voices in the cockpit.

The units need to be resistantfor fire and water and able to cope with the fore of a major impact. They alsoneed to withstand low air pressures at altitude should the aircraft suffer asudden decompression. Likewise the recorder should be capable of bearing thecrushing pressures down on the seafloor should the aircraft plunge into theocean

As a result, black boxes requirevery strong casings. Earlier models were simply made from stainless steel, butnow housing also incorporate titanium, as ell as an inner layer ofheat-resistant material

黑盒子必須對火炎對大水有極強的抵抗力且得能夠承受強大的衝擊力，它們同時也得具備能在低氣壓中確保資料不會毀損的能耐以便飛機在高海拔發生突發意外時依然能保護重要的資訊。當飛機不幸墬毀於大海時，黑盒子亦得要能夠忍受沉重的水壓。

因為以上總總考量，黑盒子必得需要一層堅固的護甲。早期的型號僅使用了不鏽鋼組合黑盒子，但現代的黑盒子還加入了鈦合金以牢固黑盒子內部對烈火的抗性。
