The boy and the girl never spoke.

The dust recalled that dim sky, that shriveled bloodstain, located at that tiny school, that tiny roof.

Then the boy opened the door to the roof.

The wind dared not have any action, but only devoutly, fearfully esteemed the tattoos on the boy’s body. He was the son of the mafia, a killer raised by the shadow. The door uttered a slight noise because of the closure, separating the clamor in the distance and the hostility scrupling about his identity. He could finally tremblingly put away his gun, showing the pain that was not allowed, like a lone wolf longing for the living’s breath.

This shabby school lay in the center of the mafia’s home bases, the cage in the bloody storm, but the darkness seemed to have a trace of conscience, this place had never been visited by killing. It was the last peace that the children could have, the same as the boy right now.

The only difference was that the iron door leading to the roof should be locked usually, preventing the people from mouse the cruel world outside, but for him who bathed in blood all year around, stealing a key was not any difficult.

This slightly cool air and the empty, dead silence were the boy’s destination. This was the only place that could let him put down everything as if the world only left him alone. He could feel his own breath, heartbeat, and all the proof that he was still alive.

And this day, the boy met the girl.

Those were eyes completely different from his, standing at the opposite of surviving struggling. Her eyes were dead, as if she had never existed.

But at this moment, the breath of the two of them did not have a trace of violation.

The girl sat at the edge of the building. Her gaze put back to the view below, and the boy understood the situation and quietly sat in the back.

The girl was an ordinary person. Nobody knew how she came to the roof, but she was just here at this moment, staring intently at the abyss as if there was something attracting her.

The boy, on the contrary, had a rough guess. Although this school was this unusual, it still kept normal elements: gossip, skipping classes, and… bullying. Despite the two’s different backgrounds, their purpose of coming to this place was the same — to keep away the annoying hustle and bustle.

He was eager to live, while she awaited death, but they shared this coolness.

The girl was afraid to commit suicide. She still had fear of pain, so she then tightly gazed at the ground, her end, waiting for habits to bring her momentary courage. Even if the height gradually took away her breath, she continued her gaze.

This was a silent but tacit encounter. The boy did not know her, but he understood her misfortune. The girl did not know him, but she comprehended the shackles bestowed by his background, and they both knew, that in this space, real chaos did not exist, only two lost souls.

Since then, they would meet here. She would bring snacks, providing him stretching life. He would also accompany her when she cried, watching her tears corrading innocent dew. However, they still never spoke.

Time seemed not willing to participate in this tragic story, this bond forgotten by malice, until the boy’s hurried footsteps broke everything.

Run… my enemies know your existence… they are coming to kill you…

Sweats mixed with his unconscious mutter. It was his first time to brutally kick the door open, polluting this silence, until he stood next to her. At this moment, he lost all the words.

The girl’s eyes were still the same as their first meeting, tranquil, emotionless, that was the boy’s salvation.

He held up her slightly cold hand. She did not shy away, but they looked at each other and smiled.

The boy’s worries disappeared with the wind. He knew very well, that she would save him.

That was a dim sky, located at that tiny school, that tiny roof, as before,

and the girl pushed the boy off the edge.

The boy who yearned to live fell into eternal abyss. The girl who hoped for death would bear the grief of the living.

“Excuse me, do you know this person who committed suicide? You also go to the roof often.” In a trance, she seemed to hear someone asking her.

“No, I don’t know him.” She still remained cold and then moved forward.

The boy and the girl never spoke. They were merely strangers.
